The web hosting provider, Canadian Web Hosting, recently announced that they are seeking to become a green certified business. To this end, they have become a member of the Green Business Bureau, while they have also begun implementing a number of green practices at the company. Among others, these green practices include buying greenware, and other sustainable products.
As Matt McKinney director of operations at Canadian Web Hosting explained this move, “As a company we wanted to learn and utilize better methods to improve our business practices and processes not only to serve our customers, but also to better protect the environment we live in.” He went on to add that, “By partnering with the GBB, we believe that we have aligned with an organization that is a leader in assisting business in recognizing what it means to be a green company. Whether it is through onsite consultations to identify opportunities to improve, or through analysis of our existing business practices to implement more sustainable business practices, GBB has team members who understand not only what it takes to run a business, but can offer viable strategies and solutions in looking [at] sustainability issues.”
As they say on their website, the Green Business Bureau is on a mission “to foster environmental awareness among businesses and promote business practices that are both environmentally responsible and commercially beneficial.” Some of the other, more prominent, members of this bureau are Ebay, AAA and travelocity.com. Each member shows their membership by displaying the Green Business Bureau seal on their website.
By becoming a member of the Green Business Bureau and implementing all the going green changes, Canadian Web Hosting is trying to positively improve the environment both for the customers, as well as the employees. They are, of course, also seeking to reduce waste and become more efficient.
Only two weeks ago, another Canadian web hosting provider, HostPapa, went green, celebrating Earth Day by donating 10,000 trees to school children in Africa, Haiti and North America.
