iPage is evil. I decided to cancel my account after a week because I discovered weebly. They said on their ads/site that they will give a full refund if you decide to cancel within the 30-day trial period.

Webhosting with them is $42. They also provide domain privacy which is $8.99. Also, they provide you with SiteLock for $12.95. So you end up paying about $63.94. When I asked how much they were refunding me through their live chat service, the agent said the full amount minus $15 for domain registration which irritated me at first because I was willing to part ways with that ugly domain name. So I said sure, I'm willing to give up $15 if that will shut the agent up (he was trying to up-sell me with iPage products that clearly I don't want). Anyway, I was made to think that my account will be cancelled by the 28th of the month (1 day from the time we chatted) and that I will be getting a full refund 63.94-15= $48.94. Soon after, I checked my account and found out that it was still active on the 31st of the month. I chatted with another live agent and he said that they didn't delete it plus I will still be paying them $12 for domain parking which I clearly stated I didn't want. Also, I found out that they will only be refunding $27 to me because they don't refund add-on services even though they were provided by iPage. So basically, they ran away with my $21.94. If I bought a bag of cotton balls from my neighbourhood grocery store and wanted to return it just 'cos I didn't need it, the store will refund me everything to the last penny and snot, iPage will not give a rat's behind. Plus their agents are vague and will try to up-sell crappy service to an already upset customer. Basically what I wanted to say is AVOID iPAGE at all costs!! They will overcharge you with service that you don't need and not give you a full refund during the 30-day trial service. AVOID iPAGE!

Note from the editor:

I am not trying to defend iPage whatsoever but keep in my mind that no web hosting provider will give you refund for a domain name as they can't get a refund for it themselves. Once it is registered, it is yours. You can always move your domain name to another web host though.

It is always best to register your domain name with a third-party registrar rather than with a web hosting company.

Good reliable service. Unlimited bandwith, unlimited number of websites for one low fee of $3.50. Their support is great. I don't know how they can afford to provide such a high class 24/7 phone suport when they charge so little.

"Anytime money back guarantee" fail. They won't give you any money back. They have a mysterious cancellation fee that appears :) No refund for your free domain. My site crashed randomly at least 5 times, always the same problem, always the same flawed solution by "tech support".Cheap hosting? Sure, but you get what you pay for.

Note from the editor:

I am not defending iPage whatsoever but no web hosting company will ever refund you for a domain name and it's cleary stated in their TOS.

Hosting companies would quickly go out of business if they'd pay to register 'free' domain names only to have the customers cancel their hosting account 5 minutes later.

Once the hosting company has registered a domain name for you, you own it and they couldn't get a refund for themselves even if they wanted to.

And since you own the domain name, you simply need to choose another web host and move it there.

I have been using Ipage for over 9 months now and despite a few issues with their control panel I am very satisfied. It is very to use and I got to install wordpress myself within a few clicks.

iPage have been very helpful in helping me to move my website from Hostpapa and I wished I had done that earlier.
